Of course with a title like this there has been great controversy sorrounding Nas's new album. Recently a brooklyn assemblyman demanded that the New York Comptroller withdraw an $84 million state pension fund invested in Universal Music Group unless Nas changes the title. I again say an artists has the freedom and also the responsibility to challenge us to discuss all subjects, especially those that are taboo because of the fear attatched to them. The word Nigger is a word; a nasty demoralizing word, but still a word and no artist should be denieed their freedom of speech to help us unerstand and come to dealing with society's issues. As a long term fan of Nas, I am sure he will approach the subject from an intellectual point of view and with a maturity that he has grown over the years as an artist. I for one look foward to hearing it, so go get the album and lets confront or fears in life and work together to resolve them.
